Sex Offender Registry
(O.C.G.A. 42-1-12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, & 19)
The Sex Offender Registry serves as a tool to warn the public and provide a means for citizens and law enforcement to track and monitor convicted Sex Offenders in the community. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is the central repository for Georgia’s Sexual Offender Registry.
Georgia Law mandates that all convicted Sex Offenders who claim residency, employment, or attend higher education classes in Haralson County must physically register with the Sheriff’s Office 3 days prior to entering Haralson County.
Who must register:
- Sex Offenders who live, work, or go to college / trade school in Haralson County GA.
- Sex Offenders released from prison, on parole, placed on probation, or supervised release.
- Registered Sex Offenders must also re-register annually within 3 days prior to their birthday.
- Registered Sex Offender Predators must also re-register 6 months after their birthday.
What were they convicted of:
Sex Offenders have been convicted of a crime that is by its nature a sexual offence, such as:
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-1 Rape.
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-2 Sodomy (against a minor).
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-2 Aggravated Sodomy (against a minor or adult).
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-3 Statutory Rape (unless the perpetrator is 18 years of age or younger).
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-4 Child Molestation.
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-4 Aggravated Child Molestation.
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-5 Enticing a child for indecent purposes.
- O.C.G.A. 16-6-22.2 Aggravated Sexual Battery.
- O.C.G.A. 42-1-12(9)(A&B) (Against a Minor) Kidnapping; False imprisonment; Criminal sexual conduct; Solicitation to engage in sexual conduct; Any conviction resulting from an underlying sexual offense; Engage in any sexually explicit conduct to produce any visual medium; Creating, publishing, selling, distributing, or possessing any material depicting a minor or a portion of a minor’s body engaged in sexually explicit conduct; Transmitting, making, selling, buying, or disseminating by means of a computer any descriptive or identifying information regarding a child for the purpose of offering or soliciting sexual conduct of or with a child or the visual depicting of such conduct; Conspiracy to transport, ship, receive, or distribute visual depictions of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct; or Any conduct which by its nature, is a sexual offence against a victim who is a minor.
